Yoni Deepmala Lightsculpture
Yoni Deepmala celebrates the power of the feminine. It glows with pink, red, and amber LEDs. The materials used are sustainable 3-ply bamboo and Japanese Shoji paper with eco-friendly polyester film as core. Shoji paper is usually used in the fabrication of shoji screens and dividers. I wanted to use this material because of its light transmitting properties and beauty and sensuality.
It's the first in the Deepmala Collection, which is named after the Sanskrit word for "tower of lights". This collection features pieces that either hang from the ceiling or are freestanding, with vertically-layered sections.
Each of the 4 levels feature LED strips that illuminate the shoji paper and also the surface below the sculpture. A small RF remote controls the dimming of the whole sculpture. This Lightsculpture, and the whole room in which it resides, glows with sensual, warm colors.
